In our last post we mentioned Galaxy, the Knowledge Management system we’re co-developing with Accenture to manage the entire lifecycle of a nuclear energy facility – from licensing through decommissioning. What was not mentioned is the span and breadth of the team now working on developing Galaxy and making it the application to ensure time and cost savings for every lifecycle stage of these facilities now being developed and built in the 21st century.
While looking for the above link to the Galaxy article, I stumbled upon a gold mine. While UniStar employees have daily contact with our Accenture Galaxy team here in the U.S., we tend to forget that much of the development and programming work gets done while we’re sleeping – in Manila. The Galaxy team in Manila doesn’t just have talented brains, but talented feet as well.
A team of 20 Accenture employees, including the Galaxy Team, choreographed and won first place in the Utilities – CNR Dance Competition last December. Four groups were competing, and the Galaxy Team bagged the championship and a special award (Best Wildcard Dance.)
What a great way to build camaraderie and friendship, exercise, and stay in shape when you’re otherwise concentrating at the computer all day. There are many companies in the U.S. that have organized company teams on recreational sports leagues and volunteer groups, but I think it’s much more common in Asia. It’s a great way to team-build, and create friendships that might otherwise not take place. Congratulations to Galaxy team Manila from your friends at UniStar. We just hope you’re not billing us for practice time.
