We’d like to congratulate our partner, AREVA, for receiving a $2 billion conditional commitment for a loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy for the construction of a uranium enrichment plant in Idaho. This is another positive step for the nuclear energy industry as it
• supports the construction of an advanced facility with improved technology for the enrichment process,
• secures U.S. production of carbon-free energy sources (including the supply of fuel for UniStar’s planned fleet of U.S. EPRs), and, most importantly,
• creates an additional 4,800 direct and indirect nuclear jobs for Idaho.
And isn’t a satisfying, well-paid job what most Americans are looking for? Bravo, AREVA.
